106. Li X, male, 58 years old, from Yingshang County, an elder from the Three-Self Church. In March 1999, someone testified about God’s end-time work to him, but he didn’t accept it and even wanted to tear up the book of God’s word. He closed all their meeting places to outsiders, threatened to inform on the gospel preachers, and spoke many blasphemous words against the name of God, and moreover, he went everywhere to disturb the people who had accepted Almighty God. In November 13, 1999, Li’s son and daughter-in-law suffered carbon monoxide poisoning when working away from their home. His son died, and his daughter-in-law became disabled and had to rely on others for her meals though over 30,000 yuan was spent on the treatment. Li admitted, “This is God’s punishment. Judgment begins with the family of God.” He was certainly an elder. When one of his family members died, he realized that it was his retribution and dared not resist God any more!
