11. Only Being an Honest Person Is Genuine Repentance

All who have experienced God’s work acknowledge that mankind has been corrupted so deeply by satan that no one has normal humanity and does not need God’s salvation. Corrupt mankind often tells lies and cheats God. As long as God’s work is contrary to people’s notions, they will pass judgment on it. They disobey and resist God in everything. Even if they consecrate themselves and expend themselves for God, their purpose is still to gain blessings. When they perform their duty, they do it completely according to their own ideas and treat God perfunctorily and deceitfully, having no true obedience, to say nothing of caring for God’s intention. So where is people’s repentance? They lie, cheat, disguise themselves, do things perfunctorily and deceitfully, have notions in their hearts, disobey and resist God, often become passive, and complain and rebel against God; however, true obedience, faithfulness, and fear of God cannot be seen in them, let alone genuine love for God. Thus it is clear that people, while believing in God, have no repentance at all. Among all those who perform their duty and those who serve God, no one has normal human conscience and sense and no honest person can be found. Every corrupt human being often tells lies, fabricates lies, does things perfunctorily and deceitfully, imitates others, disguises himself, and practices deceptions. When being pruned and dealt with, he feels unconvinced in his heart and finds excuses to oppose, judge, disobey, and resist God; he even speaks against the facts, confounding black and white, and at the same time he restrains others from telling the truth and uncovering the facts, for fear that the bad things he has done will be exposed and hence he will be eliminated by God’s family. Once he performs some duty for God’s family, he will scramble for the crown and enjoy his own “achievements.” Could these manifestations represent people’s genuine repentance? Could people with these corruptions enter into the kingdom of God? Could the kingdom of heaven be so easily entered into? If so, where would be God’s righteousness? And where would be God’s holiness? People, while believing in God, have no genuine repentance yet expect to enter into the kingdom of God; this is their extravagant desire. Then what is genuine repentance? Do people think that they have repented as long as they do not drink alcohol, not play mahjong, not commit adultery, not hit or revile others, not steal or rob others, and not kill or take revenge on others while believing in God? Do people think that they have repented as long as they can perform their duty and expend themselves for God while believing in God? Do people think that they have repented as long as they do not steal offerings or covet the money of God’s family? Do people think that they have repented as long as they can accept God’s end-time work and do not forsake God, openly resist God, or blaspheme God? If people really think so, they go completely against God’s intention and are absolutely wrong. When God requires people to repent, he means that people should get rid of their sins and corrupt nature and live out the likeness of a real man. Being a little zealous for God does not represent genuine repentance; being able to toil for God’s family with a bargaining mind does not represent genuine repentance either. Whoever often disobeys and resists God has no genuine repentance. In fact, among the believers in God, there is no one who can truly obey God or who is faithful to God, and much less is there anyone who genuinely loves God, worships God, and shuns evil. It is not easy even to find an honest person who can perform his duty sincerely without perfunctoriness and deceit. Genuine repentance completely means to start a new life. If corrupt mankind could be saved as long as they do a few good things while believing in God, then it would be unnecessary for God to do the work of judging and chastising man in the end time. Judging from people’s various manifestations in their believing in God now, no one can be said to have genuine repentance. This is because everyone, while believing in God, still can tell lies to deceive God, can perform their duty perfunctorily and deceitfully to cheat God, and cannot truly obey God; everyone still can speak against facts, confounding black and white, can treat God with craftiness, and can often disobey and resist God; and everyone is in danger of forsaking God at any time. So, how can such people be said to have genuine repentance? To genuinely repent, people must start by being an honest person, and only this fits God’s requirement. This is because only an honest person has normal humanity, and people must have normal humanity before they can live in the presence of God, normally serve God, and normally perform their duty as created beings. So, only if corrupt mankind starts a new life can they be said to have genuine repentance, and only being an honest person is genuine repentance. This is fully in conformity with God’s intention.

One must pursue the truth for years before he can gain the transformation of his life nature, yet he can possess a normal humanity as long as he can genuinely repent and be an honest person. Only being an honest person is the most fundamental manifestation of one’s repentance, and everyone can be an honest person as long as he makes efforts to pursue to be. To succeed in believing in God, one should at least be an honest person. If he fails to be an honest person, he will simply have no hope of being saved. Judas who betrayed Jesus was a very crafty person. He always stole the Lord’s money and reaped profits from the Lord. So the Holy Spirit delivered him to satan, and he became a traitor who betrayed the Lord and thus was cursed. If one has no genuine repentance while believing in God, he can never be saved. So people must know what genuine repentance is. If one takes doing a few good things after believing in God as his first gift to God, it represents only a sincerity of his believing in God but not his repentance. Genuine repentance means to start a new life. Only by being an honest person can people be acceptable to God, and the transformation of their life nature is the final result of God’s work. The change of humanity, that is, being what kind of person and not being what kind of person, can absolutely be achieved through one’s efforts, or at least, some change can be achieved to meet the minimum standard. For example, some people treat their wives very cruelly, beating them whenever they want to, and this can be changed; some have no patience in teaching their children and often treat them roughly, and this can be changed; some often cheat the brothers and sisters, full of falsehoods and hypocrisy, and cannot get along with them normally, and this can be changed; in the past, we always spoke pleasant and deceitful words to God, treating God with craftiness and lies, and performed our duty perfunctorily and deceitfully to cheat God, and this absolutely can be changed as well. Repentance means to give up wrong practices and treat God with normal human conscience and sense as Abraham and Job did. Although it is not something that we can achieve at once, it surely can be achieved after a period of our efforts. Of course, to be a thoroughly honest person, we do need to make efforts for several years before we can succeed. If we cannot even meet the standard of being a human while pursuing to be an honest person, we have no genuine repentance and won’t possibly be saved. Most people have not gained much transformation though they have believed in God for years, and they are still essentially corrupt ones who are of satan. They are little else than unbelievers, full of lies and deceits and unable to get along with others normally; the only difference is that they have a mouth of believing in God. Isn’t this the biggest deceit to God? If people believe in God yet do not pursue to be an honest person, they are definitely cheaters of God and are still ones resisting God. How can such human beings be left alive? It was often said in the Age of the Grace: No one can enter into the kingdom of God unless he repents and is born again. God’s end-time work is just to accomplish this fact. Only by being an honest person can people be saved and made perfect by God. Whether one can be saved while believing in God depends neither on what duty he performs, nor on what quality he has, much less on what level of leader he is. If he is unable to be an honest person, he is irredeemable and will definitely be eliminated, because God only saves honest people and only perfects honest people. If one wants to be saved and made perfect by God, he has no other choice but to pursue to be an honest person; this is the only path to being saved. If he is unable to be an honest person, he is bound to be a failure in belief in God. Only being an honest person is genuine repentance; only by being an honest person can one be saved and made complete by God. There is no doubt about this.
