In the past, when reading in God’s word that we were required to be an honest person, many brothers and sisters thought that it was not hard to be an honest person and that as long as they could tell the truth and did not cheat others in anything, they would be an honest person. But as to whether or not they had reached the standards of being an honest person, most of them did not think deeply about it, and they did not seek or pay attention to entering into being an honest person either. Thus, the matter of practicing being an honest person fizzled out. Recently, from the man’s fellowship “The Four Indices Man Has to Grasp in Pursuing the Truth to Gain the Transformation of His Nature,” we clearly realize the importance and crucialness of being an honest person, and understand that being an honest person is the prerequisite and the foundation for the transformation of our nature and is the starting point for pursuing the transformation of our nature. Because God likes honest people and loathes crafty people, only if we start to practice and enter in being an honest person will we be able to establish a normal relationship with God, and will it be easy for us to communicate with God and receive the working of the Holy Spirit. If we do not enter into being an honest person, we will be in no position to talk about the transformation of our nature, let alone being saved and being made perfect by God.

After that, most brothers and sisters feel a sense of urgency about being an honest person and are all willing to enter into the truth of being an honest person. Then, how should we pursue to be an honest person? In the man’s fellowship, it says: “God likes honest people and hates crafty ones because he is faithful and the devil is a liar. All people, after being corrupted by satan, have become the ones who are full of lies. Corrupt human beings lie about everything, and even none of their words is not mixed with a lie. They have all become experts in telling lies and master-hands in making up lies. It is very difficult to decide which of their words is true and which is false. None of corrupt human beings is trustworthy. … To be an honest person is to speak truthfully, do things in a down-to-earth manner, tell no lies, and mix no falsehood into anything; it is to be loyal to God in performing duty, not cheat God, and prefer to bear disgrace rather than lie. The standards of an honest person are these: No lie is found in his mouth; he never performs his duty perfunctorily and deceitfully; he never speaks nor does anything that cheats God; he is able to be absolutely faithful to God and obey God; and he worships God only and never worships satan. Only such a person can be called an honest person.” This passage has already shown us the accurate ways to practice being an honest person and the standards for being an honest person. But because some brothers and sisters have limited life entering and limited understanding, they only understand the literal meaning of the ways to practice being an honest person fellowshipped about by the above, and when practicing, they can only observe regulations and are still unclear about the specific ways to practice. In light of such a state, I would like to share some of my knowledge of these words and what I have gained from them. I hope it will be of some help to brothers and sisters.

From this fellowship, we see that we can practice and enter into being an honest person mainly from the following three aspects. First, we must have the knowledge of God’s substance of being faithful and almighty and searching everything. Second, we must know how deeply we have been corrupted by satan and know our various corrupt states, and must truly see that we lie too much and cheat too much and are far from the standards of an honest person that are required by God. Third, we also have to know the specific states of speaking truthfully, doing things in a down-to-earth manner, being absolutely faithful to God, and never doing anything that cheats God, as described in the man’s fellowship. After we know these, we can exercise to enter in from these aspects. By practicing being an honest person in this way, the results will be easily achieved.
