20. I Stole God’s Sacrifices in Performing My Duty

Soon after I accepted God’s new work of the end time, God’s family assigned me to do hosting. When I first began to host the brothers and sisters, I was very glad and was willing to give. However, as time went on, disobedience grew within me. I thought, “They have been staying at my home for such a long time; if some day my food is eaten up, what will I eat then?” Just at that time, a sister came, and I told her what was in my mind. Later, God’s family provided food for me to do the hosting, which made me very happy and gave me relief. From then on, I cooked for the brothers and sisters with the food provided by God’s family, and naturally I began to eat the food with them. In the course of time, my greedy desire became stronger and stronger. Whether the brothers and sisters ate in or not, I cooked with the food supplied by God’s family. And I even thought shamelessly, “I used to do hosting with my own food; now it is reasonable for me to eat a little food of God’s family. Besides, after the food is eaten up, God’s family will continue to provide.” With this thought, I asked God’s family for more when the food was eaten up.

One day, when I ate and drank the word of God, I read these words: “You, a tiny bug, steal the offerings on the altar of me Jehovah. … You shameless wretch! The sacrifices on the altar are offered to me by those who fear me, which show their ‘gratitude.’ They are to be at my disposal and for me to use. How could you plunder the small turtledoves offered to me by people? Are you not afraid that you will become a Judas? Are you not afraid that your field will become a ‘field of blood’? You shameless thing! Do you think that the turtledoves offered by people are for you to nourish the stomach of you maggot? What I give to you is given by me willingly. What I do not give to you is to be at my disposal. I do not allow you to steal my offerings as you please. The One who does the work is I Jehovah—the Creator, and it is for my sake that people offer sacrifices. Do you think they are wages for your running? How shameless you are! Whom are you running for? Aren’t you running for yourself? Why do you steal my sacrifices? Why do you steal the money in my purse? Aren’t you a ‘descendant of Judas Iscariot’? The sacrifices of me Jehovah are for the priests to enjoy. Are you a priest? You even dare to eat my sacrifices with complacence and you even put them on the table. How worthless you are! You worthless wretch! The fire of me Jehovah will eventually burn you up!” God’s words like a sharp two-edged sword penetrated my numb heart and exposed me so thoroughly that I found no place to hide myself for shame. And I shuddered. In retrospect, during this period when I performed the duty of hosting, I always sought personal interests, planned for myself, counted all day how much I had expended for God and how much God’s family should give me. Furthermore, I took advantage of my duty to pick up some profit from God’s family. My greedy innate nature is such that I lost my conscience and sense, and I even shamelessly stretched out my hands to God’s family and boldly stole God’s sacrifices while being complacent about it. According to my deeds, I deserved to be punished and cursed by God, but God only judged and warned me with his words, causing me to see my greedy ugly self and know my corrupt nature. O God, thank you for tolerating me and giving me a chance to revive my conscience. From now on, I will equip myself with more of your words to solve my greedy innate nature, host the brothers and sisters properly, and no longer seek profits for myself. If I again steal your sacrifices, may you punish me severely and make me end up like Judas.
