15. Whoever Pursues the Truth Can Be Made Perfect

In the years of my believing in God, I had always held the view that the leaders in God’s family could certainly be made perfect by God and would be the priests, the sons, or the people of God in the kingdom, and that those handling general affairs, those preaching the gospel, or those doing hosting would certainly be toilers in the kingdom and they were at a disadvantage in being made perfect by God. So, I thought that no duty could be better than being a leader.

One day, I met with the leader and happened to see that he carried with him a copy of The Replies to the Questions from the Churches in Various Places, a piece of man’s fellowship, and a copy of communication articles on life experience. Then I took them over for a read. I had just read several pages when the leader took them back and left for his business. Seeing this, I even more believed that my view was right. I thought, “Anyway, it’s good to be a leader. A leader has the advantage of getting everything first and can be easily made perfect by God. We who preach the gospel are in an unfavorable condition to be perfected. I have less time to eat and drink God’s word and fewer chances to attend meetings, and now I even can’t read the fellowship. It seems that I have no chance to be made perfect.” The more I thought, the more I felt distressed. And I had a good cry after I got home. Since then, I lost faith in God and did not want to pray either. Sometimes I picked up the book of God’s word and wanted to read, but once I thought it was “easy” for me to be made perfect, I was gnawingly distressed and then I put down the book. I thought, “Since I cannot be made perfect by God, What is the use of my pursuit? Forget it, I will just follow mindlessly as I do now, muddling along until the end of God’s work.” So I lived in a passive state and could not come out of it for a long time.

One evening, when I felt distressed for this matter again, God’s words inspired and enlightened me: “Now even if you are not a worker, you should perform your duty as a created being and pursue to let God control you in everything as he wishes. You should obey whatever God says and should be able to experience any tribulation and refining. You should love God in your heart despite your weakness. Those who are responsible for their own life are the ones who are willing to fulfill their duty as a created being. Such people’s viewpoint of pursuing is right. God just needs this kind of people.” “Whether a person will be saved is not decided according to how many works he does or how much he consecrates but according to whether he knows the working of the Holy Spirit, whether he puts the truth into practice, and whether his viewpoint of pursuing is according to the truth.” “Everyone has the opportunity to be made perfect. As long as you want to be made perfect and you pursue hard, you will be made perfect in the end, and none of you will be cast away. If you have poor qualities, you will be given requirements accordingly. If you have good qualities, you will be given requirements accordingly. If you are ignorant and illiterate, you will be given requirements accordingly. If you can read, you will be given requirements accordingly. If you are in years, you will be given requirements accordingly. If you can do hosting, you will be given requirements accordingly. If you say you cannot do hosting but can only perform some other function, preaching the gospel, taking care of the church, or doing some other general affairs, you will be perfected according to the function you perform.” At that time, I suddenly saw the light and came to know this: Whether one can be made perfect is not determined by his position being high or low, nor by his doing a great or small work, nor by his making a great or small contribution, but determined by whether he is walking a right path and has a right viewpoint of pursuing. As long as one takes the right path and has a right viewpoint of pursuing, he will be made perfect no matter what function he performs in God’s family; if he takes a wrong path, he will be eliminated all the same no matter how high his position is. Anyone who sincerely pursues the truth can gain the truth, and anyone who is faithful in his given commission can be made perfect. This is because God has come to perfect not only the leaders but all those who sincerely believe in him, and God’s truth, way, and life are open to all those who pursue the truth, not to the leaders only. Thank God for inspiring me. I felt greatly released all at once, and my mind was finally set at rest. O God! I am grateful that you have inspired me and enabled me to realize my wrong viewpoint of pursuing. From now on, I will pursue the truth and pursue to be made perfect by you in a down-to-earth manner.
