I was formerly a senior leader in the Justification by Faith Church, who had worked for the Lord for many years. I expected the Lord’s return day and night, but it never occurred to me that I could become an arch-criminal that resisted the Lord when he really returned.

Since some people preached the end-time gospel of Almighty God in our area, I had had a great resistance to it, considering them deceivers because I did not think it possible for God to be incarnated the second time. So, I began to resist it frenziedly and even fabricated and spread rumors in our churches: “Never come into contact with the believers in ‘Eastern Lightning,’ for they have evil spirits in them. They are false christs, false prophets, and deceivers. Once you join them, you cannot withdraw. If you try to withdraw, they will break your legs, cut off your ears, or gouge out your eyes. If you follow them, you will suffer eternal punishment….” In order to prevent the brothers and sisters from accepting “Eastern Lightning” and keep them under my control, in order to preserve my power and fame, I worked much harder than ever before. I closed all the churches to outsiders, said frightening things to scare the brothers and sisters, and forbade them to come into contact with those from “Eastern Lightning.” Seeing that I rushed around with so much “burden,” the brothers and sisters praised me as a faithful servant of God. I was secretly delighted at that.

In early 1999, many believers in our churches accepted “Eastern Lightning.” This made me extremely worried. I hastily called the co-workers together to discuss how to stop the people of “Eastern Lightning” from preaching in our area. In the end we laid down several precautions: Firstly, if any brother or sister is absent from one meeting, the church must assign a specific person to make inquiries about him or her. Secondly, whoever stops coming to the meetings for a month, the church must treat him as a “stranger” and never permit him to attend meetings again. Thirdly, whether one is a distant relative or a close relative of ours, as long as his belief is different from ours, we must firmly refuse to talk about the matter of belief in God with him. If he tries to talk about it, we should drive him out at once. Even for our parent we should not make an exception. Fourthly, whoever finds any members of “Eastern Lightning” come to “deceive” the brothers and sisters, should immediately report it to his leader or call the police to arrest them. Thus, by these four “rules” we laid down, the believers in the churches of our area were bound tightly, and over a period of time, we no longer heard the words “XX accepted Eastern Lightning too,” which had constantly been heard before.

One day in April 1999, a sister (a former co-worker of mine) came to preach the end-time gospel to me. She said, “Sister, let’s have a fellowship….” “Go to the devil! Who is your sister? What a nerve! Get out of here!” Before she finished a word, I cursed and pushed her out of my house. Later, some other brothers and sisters came to preach the gospel to me many times, but were all ruthlessly driven away by me. Moreover, I racked my brains to get back those brothers and sisters who had accepted Almighty God. Some turned back, and I forced them to confess their sins to the Lord tearfully in front of all the brothers and sisters and compelled them to blaspheme and curse Almighty God. As for those I failed to win back, I publicly slandered them in the churches, saying, “They have been possessed by evil spirits. Never come into contact with them. If you do, you cannot shake them off. They are all out of their senses. They run around all day long and are even not ashamed of being driven, beaten, and abused by others….” Hearing this, all the brothers and sisters were so scared that they avoided those of “Eastern Lightning” like the plague.

While I was resisting Almighty God recklessly, I suddenly had a terrible pain in my stomach one day. My family hurriedly sent me to hospital. After an examination, the doctor diagnosed me with stomach cancer. At that grievous news, I crumpled up all at once, feeling as if struck by a bolt from the blue. Little did I imagine that death could draw near to me, who believed in the Lord whole-heartedly in the hope of receiving eternal life. However, I did not realize it was retribution for my frenziedly resisting the end-time work of Almighty God, so I continued closing the churches to outsiders and preventing the brothers and sisters from accepting the true way. Later, my condition got worse and worse, and eventually I was completely bedridden. Only then did I have to stop my evil deeds.

One day in late May, the co-worker who had been driven out by me came to my home again. At the sight of her, I flew into a rage and shouted at her, “What brings you here again? Get away! Do you think you can deceive me? Stop dreaming! If God had come to do the work, could I not know it? God will never work like that….” After I shouted at her, I thought, “I’ve said such bad things to refuse her, so she will go now.” Unexpectedly, she took a chair, sat by my bedside, and said to me mildly, “Sister, don’t be angry. Let’s talk about God’s new work.” “I don’t want to talk about anything with you. Get away from me! I don’t want to see you!” The sister said to me in tears, “Sister! Don’t resist anymore. Wake up! Do you know why this has come to you? Isn’t it because you resist Almighty God and get what you deserve? You have never investigated this way, nor do you know the actual facts about it, but you wantonly spread rumors in the churches all day long, saying that those who have accepted Almighty God are extremely evil. Yet, have you ever seen a person, as you said, ‘whose legs have been broken, whose ears have been cut off, or whose eyes have been gouged out’? How can we believers in God give false testimony to frame others? The Bible says: ‘Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.’ If you go on resisting like this, there may be even heavier and greater punishment coming upon you. Aren’t you afraid? You should know that God’s work cannot be hindered by anyone, and much less does his nature tolerate anyone’s offense. It was so in the Age of the Law; it was also so in the Age of the Grace; it is even more so today in the end time. To those who obey him, God shows his mercy and love, but to those who resist him, he metes out all punishment and no reward.” The stern words of justice that sprang from the sister’s heart struck me. “Yes! I’ve been so ‘loyal and devoted’ to the Lord, doing my utmost to guard the churches against ‘Eastern Lightning.’ Why have I got this incurable disease? Is what I have resisted with all my strength really the true way?” Seeing my manner somewhat changed, the sister fellowshipped with me in detail about the three stages of the work in God’s six-thousand-year management plan. Then, she read me these words of God: “‘God’ and ‘man’ cannot be compared with each other. His substance and his work are most unfathomable to man and most incomprehensible to man. If God did not personally work and speak among men, they could in no way understand his intention. In that case, even those who dedicate their life to God would not be commended by God. If God does not work, man’s best work is in vain, for God’s thoughts are always higher than man’s thoughts and God’s wisdom is unfathomable to any man. Therefore, I say that all those who ‘see through’ God and God’s work are useless men and arrogant and ignorant men. Man should not draw any conclusion about God’s work. Besides, man is unable to draw any right conclusion about God’s work. In God’s eyes, man is even tinier than an ant, so how could he fathom God’s work? Aren’t all those who proclaim repeatedly, ‘God will not work like this. God will not work like that’ and ‘God is like this. God is like that,’ the ones who speak arrogant words? We all should be aware that fleshly men have all been corrupted by satan and they all resist God by nature and cannot have an equal footing with God, much less give God counsel on his work. How God leads man is God’s own work. Man should obey it and should not hold this or that opinion about it, for man is only dust. Since we have the desire to seek God, we should not present our notions to God for him to consult in his work, and even less should we consciously resist God’s work greatly by our corrupt nature. Aren’t those who do so antichrists? Are such people believing in God? Since we believe that there is a God and wish to satisfy God and see God, we should seek the way of truth and seek the way that is in harmony with God and should not be stiff-necked and stand in opposition to God. What fruit can we reap from doing that?
