In 1992, I believed in Jesus because my father got cancer. Through prayer, the Lord not only healed my father but also healed my heart disease. Three years after I returned to the Lord, I left the Three-Self sect, joined a house church, and became a leader. Then, I pursued more actively, and my faith became greater and greater. The number of the house church I was in grew from an initial several believers to over two hundred, and the church was greatly revived.

One day in 1998, when I arrived at a host family, the sister of the host family told me, “Someone preaches that God has come and has been incarnated as a female….” I immediately said, “If such people come again, don’t receive them. Ignore those heresies.” After I said that, I didn’t take much notice of it. One day, I received a leaflet distributed by the above, which said, “‘Eastern Lightning’ is a cult, the end-time false christ….” At this moment, I suddenly remembered a co-worker of our church had been “captured.” Then I realized the “seriousness” of the matter and suddenly developed hatred toward “Eastern Lightning.” I immediately took the leaflet and went with another co-worker to the home of that co-worker who had been “captured” by “Eastern Lightning.” I directly showed her the leaflet and exhorted her, “You have believed in the Lord for so many years. Don’t go astray. It has been determined that ‘Eastern Lightning’ is a cult. Besides, the Bible doesn’t say either that God is a female. Now is the end time, and the situations within the religious circles are becoming more and more complicated. If you misbelieve, your belief in God will be in vain. Turn back now!” But no matter what I said, she was not swayed. Later, we went to persuade her many times, but she did not turn back. This made me hate “Eastern Lightning” all the more. At each meeting, I would preach wantonly, “‘Eastern Lightning’ is a cult, the end-time false christ. Once you join it, you will not be able to withdraw. The Bible clearly says that the Lord is the Christ and is the Son of the living God, but they say that God is a female. The Bible clearly says that there is only one name under heaven given to men, that only Jesus Christ is our Savior, and that salvation is found in no one else. How could God’s name be changed? So, we must be very careful. Do not be deceived….”

Though I desperately closed the church to outsiders, believers still accepted Almighty God’s new work continually. One day, a sister brought me a book of God’s word and asked me to help her discern it. I leafed through it disdainfully and cursed as I read it, “How dare he pose as Christ….” I picked up a pen and made remarks and drew lines in the book and found out the words that were contrary to my notions. Then, I took these “fruits” to the church and announced them. I warned the brothers and sisters, “I have read the book of ‘Eastern Lightning.’ It is purely to deceive people. The Lord had told us long ago that false christs would appear to deceive people in the end time. This is its fulfillment. We must guard against it. Never contact its people. No one is allowed to receive them….” Later, I forcibly dragged back the sister who showed me the book. By that time, I hated “Eastern Lightning” with all my soul. I made up my mind to oppose “Eastern Lightning” to the end and pledge my life to defend the “truth” and guard the flock properly.

However, without knowing why, the more we resisted “Eastern Lightning,” the more desolate our church became; the more we guarded the flock, the fewer the sheep became. The faith and love of the brothers and sisters gradually faded away, and they dropped out by twos and threes in succession. At that time, I also felt weak when preaching and every time I invigorated myself by an effort. The sister of the host family fell ill and got worse and worse, and in the end she even became bedridden…. Seeing these, I felt very heavy at heart. “How come the once revived and zealous church has degenerated to such a state?” At a loss, I racked my brains for the reason: “Could it be that I have not put enough effort into preaching?” Then, I began to rush about. Whenever I heard there was a good preaching somewhere, I would spare no effort to rush there to listen. I also read and studied many spiritual books, hoping to absorb the essence of every denomination to enrich my knowledge of the Bible. I thought I could revive the church by doing so, yet things did not go as I wished. The condition of the church increasingly deteriorated, and the efforts I had made came to naught. I could not help thinking of the situations of other denominations that I had been to: All the churches, big and small, were desolate; the believers were generally weak; many churches had fallen apart from within; and the co-workers intrigued against each other. Seeing that all denominations were like this, eventually we had no choice but to cling to the belief that “he who endures to the end will be saved,” believing that some day the Lord would make the church prosperous again as long as we kept our belief to the end. During that period, we preached the gospel to everyone we met and intended to “begin all over again” and wait for “the work of the Lord to be revived.”

At the end of July 2002, introduced by two other sisters, a co-worker and I went to preach the gospel to a brother of the Catholic Church. It happened that the brother’s aunt and uncle, who also believed in the Lord, came as well. Since it was late, they kept asking us to stay, so we accepted their hospitality. After the dinner, we had a fellowship together. They fellowshipped from the Old Testament to the New Testament and to Revelation. When the brother fellowshipped that “God has done a new work,” I immediately thought, “This is ‘Eastern Lightning’!” So, I became alert instantly. I kept praying in my heart, asking the Lord to seal their mouths, and I also gave hints to the co-worker and asked her to pray at once too. Then, I called the brothers and sisters out one by one and warned them, “What they preach is of a ‘cult.’ They are of ‘Eastern Lightning.’ Don’t believe it!” I also told that brother, “You can entertain your aunt and uncle as you should, but you must not believe in what they preach.” Then, I began to deliberately disturb the conversation. I cut them off frequently, found faults with them, and asked them difficult questions. But they endured and tolerated all and never minded, and they also answered all my questions. I could not stump them at all. So, I repeated emphatically, “Jesus has accomplished the redemption. When being nailed onto the cross, he said, ‘It is finished.’ That means man has been completely saved.” The brother said, “This word of Jesus means that the redemptive work has been accomplished. This is like a person who has received a death penalty. Though he is bought back and will not be put to death, he is still sinful. Similarly, although we have been redeemed by Jesus and have been forgiven of our sins, we still have corrupt nature within us. So, God still needs to do a stage of the work in the last days, that is, he will thoroughly purify and save us with the word, so that we can get rid of our corrupt nature and become holy. Without holiness no one will see the Lord. Only when this stage of the work has been accomplished will God’s work completely succeed. This is the real meaning of the word ‘It is done’ in Revelation.” In the course of this six or seven hour’s fellowship, no matter how clear and reasonable their fellowship was, I simply denied it and interrupted them unreasonably. However, they did not get angry at all but fellowshipped with me kindly and patiently from beginning to end. In the end, I simply told them, “I definitely will not believe what you have said. Apart from Jesus, there is no other name by which we can be saved.” Then we left.
